About

KenyaConnections is a social networking website to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information between non-profit groups working in Kenya. Kenyaconnections is a place to ask and answer questions about anything related to the work we do in Kenya.

KenyaConnections is based on the idea that when the EWB San Francisco team visits Arombe, they can do some water quality testing in Lela for EWB OSU. Something that would otherwise have to wait for budgets, PTO and the hoops of bureaucracy to come into alignment.

KenyaConnections is founded in the hope that we will extensively document all of our successes and failures so that each venture is more successful than the prior.

KenyaConnections is nothing extraordinary. Its the same idea we all had at some point in time. It’s your idea. It is a way to realize your ideas.

Mission:

To provide a comprehensive social-networking resource for Social Entrepreneurs and their development organizations.

So-cial · En-tre-pre-neur : / sōSHəl · äntrəprəˈno͝or /
Singular – An agent of change who recognizes a social problem and responds through innovative ideas and morally conscious action.
Plural – Those who will change the world.

Overview: We believe that the most powerful agent of change on this earth is the Social Entrepreneur. No Social Entrepreneur is identical: they are young and old; they are mothers and fathers; they are black and white. Social Entrepreneurs are unique, yet they all share something in common: each desires positive social change and each are willing to create it.

We believe that the best way to sustain and maximize the energy of Social Entrepreneurs is to connect them, which is the purpose of this website: it is an experiment to see what happens when Social Entrepreneurs connect and collaborate.

Kenya Connection is a social-networking resource that is developed and ran by Social Entrepreneurs working in the grassroots development sector in Kenya. It is a reciprocal agreement, you get what you give: put in time, work to connect and learn. This site is meant to be a tool for the next-generation of development by striving to be dynamic and relevant, which is why the site’s content is entirely entrepreneur-generated and entrepreneur-tuned.

  1. Can all the stakeholders have easy access to Kenyaconnections.com?? Are students showing villagers the website and asking them to make comments on the blog? Are village residents able to voice their views and advice about the water projects via this website so all the EWB chapters can read them? Or is this only communication between students/faculty from the various EWB chapters–or could it be opened up to residents, district local leadership, elected officials, and local engineer professionals??

Short of potentially limited access to a computer with an internet connection, there is nothing stopping village residents from viewing the website and making comments on the blogs. This site is totally open, there is nothing stopping anyone from participating nor are there any restrictions on who can communicate. It would be great to get some additional feedback. The only (unwritten) rule is that spam/advertising is not allowed.
