Diani Beach Resort Kenya

The beach is about 17 kilometres (11 mi) long, from the Kongo river to the north and Galu beach to the south (the southern point of reference is an old Baobab tree). Diani is one of the most prominent tourism resort areas of Kenya. The indigenous people of the area are the Digo, one of the nine ethnic communities known as the Mijikenda. Today the area includes Kenyans of various ethnicities who have migrated to Diani, drawn by the tourism related economy.[1] With a population of over 100,000 inhabitants, the Diani/Ukunda urban area is one of the largest at the Kenyan coast and forms part of the larger Mombasa metropolitan region.

Shimba Hills National Reserve

The Shimba Hills National Reserve being only 60km from Mombasa, is ideal for a day visit. It contains one of the largest coastal forests in East Africa and is where a great diversity of Kenya's plant species are found, many of which are endangered. The Shimba Hills National Reserve is home to many Elephant, and is the only place in Kenya where tourists can see the Sable Antelope.

The Salty Squid Beach Bar and Restaurant

Arrive by tuk-tuk, stroll over a 200-metre boardwalk high up among the mangrove trees to reach this rustic wooden stilt hut, which boasts panoramic views over Mida Creek. The restaurant is run by the Dabaso Creek Conservation Group, an eco-initiative that promotes conservation of the surrounding area and provides education for local fishing communities. Crack open a cold beer and tuck into locally farmed shellfish and flavoursome African sides. The signature crab samosas with refreshing tomato and mango salad are the perfect prelude to grilled lobster and generously spiced vegetarian curries.

Hotels Diani

Delightful Dining at Salty Squid Diani Salty Squid in Diani is always bustling with activity, so it's essential to make a reservation if you plan to visit. The restaurant boasts an extensive menu with a strong focus on seafood, and the service is excellent and professional. Located right on the beach, the setting is picturesque. Be sure to ask for a table with an ocean view to enhance your dining experience. The pricing is very reasonable, making it great value for the quality of food and service provided. We had breakfast there, enjoying good coffee and hot dishes. Dinner was equally impressive. While the fish taco, made with fish chunks rather than goujons, was a bit difficult to eat, it was super fresh and delicious. Overall, Salty Squid Diani is a very good venue that I highly recommend.
